Apex Wildlife & Leisure Park

Covering approximately 42 acres and a County Wildlife Site, Apex Leisure and Wildlife Park offers the visitor a chance to relax away from the bustle of Burnham and Highbridge Shopping centres and the beach.

A large car park extends from Marine Drive to within 30ft of the lake.  Parking is free but overnight stops by campers etc is not allowed.

For the more energetic, there is a gentle walk, via the tree planting areas, to the bank of the River Brue.  Turning right, the path/ cycleway leads along the river to the southern end of Burnham sea front (by the sailing club).  Cruisers are moored in the river during the summer months and, if the tide is right, it can be interesting to watch them head down the stream to join the River Parret and then into the Bristol Channel.

If you feel less energetic the walk around the lake is the answer and is suitable for wheelchair users.  At a medium pace, this should take no more than 40 minutes.

Picnic tables are situated by the car park.  Should you require a more peaceful setting away from cars, why not picnic on the grass further into the park?  But remember,  please place any litter in the bins provided or take it home with you.

Apex Park Management

Sedgemoor District Council aims to manage Apex Park for the benefit of the community and encourage wildlife.  It is hoped that visitors to the park will make careful use of the environment and use of the litter bins provided.

In order to conserve the wildlife, it is necessary to manage the various habitats within the park.  Where possible, conservation work is undertaken by volunteers from the local community.

Remember for safety's sake, keep away from the water's edge and do not attempt to swim or enter the water.  Please keep dogs on leads whilst on the cyclepath. Please observe the byelaws and take nothing but photographs, leave nothing but footprints and kill nothing but time.

We hope you you enjoy you visit to the Apex Park.
