Play Rangers and Outdoor Play

Children ages five years and over are invited get active outside and to attend the new fun, free taster sessions with the Play Rangers. Play Rangers help children to have fun outdoors and activities include playing sports, den building, getting messy and letting children choose what they want to play!

Sedgemoor District Council funds the scheme with money from the Big Lottery. The Children’s Society in conjunction with Barnardo’s South West will manage the service and the aim is to encourage outdoor play.

From October 1st 2008, Apex Park (next to the skate park) has been having its own 'free' weekly play ranger scheme on Wednesdays (current times are 3.30 p.m. - 5.30 p.m. but this will change to 4.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. towards the summer months). Parents are still responsible for their children whilst they are at Play Rangers and are welcome to attend the sessions along with their children.
